Flower

Flower Collection: Amy J Hughes with 1882Ltd.

‘Flower’ is born from a drawing and playfully realised in 3D, in clay. I have a fascination with historic vases, particularly 18th century French Porcelain, the drawing chosen was from a series of sketches of the beautiful hand painted flowers that adorn their surfaces. I enjoy playing with form and decoration and subverting it, exploring relationships between the 2D and the 3D.

I love working with clay and adore its possibilities. My work seeks to celebrate its material identity and highlight the unique ways in which it behaves, allowing for brushstrokes and dribbles of slip, raw cut and torn edges, exposed joints and considered application of glaze.

Flower is available in two sizes with 1882Ltd. Visit their website to discover the full collection and find out more about the story behind the pieces.
